Yeah, I just don’t know about this. It seems way too accusatory to be effective as any kind of unifying document. This is what I would have said:
- The left is by its nature against oppression, which has thus far been suffered primarily by anyone who was not white, straight, male, Christian, and cisgender.
- There have been a decent amount of people who claim to be allies of the left, but who belittle the very real oppression of others.
- Those on the left cannot both (a) be on the left and (b) belittle the very real struggle of oppressed groups who are not white, straight, male, Christian, and cisgender.
- Please be understanding and respectful, which we will be to you, even if you aren’t to us — because we’re cool people!
*Note to logic nerds: this was not meant to be a syllogism.
