Well, I didn't say we should give ALL our stuff away for free. And as I'm sure is true with most writers on Medium behind the paywall, I wrote on the web and on Medium for years before the paywall here was an option.

I also continue to publish a free weekly newsletter, which I've done for 5+ years.

So, while some stuff is behind a paywall, the bulk of my initial work was not/is not. Much like the article suggests.
