You are absolutely right about the word choice — including the choice to omit “your”. We as humans are sensitive to words, which seems like it should go without saying. However, I think people who write self-improvement stuff forget that quite a bit. The hyperbole and binaries have an impact. They can insult the puffed-up ego of people who feel successful, and thus ignore what could be valuable growth opportunities. They can also make those who are humble and lack confidence not even want to take the risk and make an investment in themselves because they can’t imagine “success” — it’s too big and too far off.
