Totally — on all counts.
I’m too young to have a firsthand knowledge of the day, but being from Chicago, my mother was pretty close to the action. She was actually a daily listener to Steve Dahl around the time it took place. I grew up listening to him, as well. It’s even funnier now that Comiskey Park has changed names twice since then. I could care less — I’m a Cubs fan (which means I’ve been feeling like I’m drunk since about June).
But you’re right, your brain does need a rest. It needs to roam, and to graze. But it can get out of hand, and get hard to rope back in. That’s where my idea for the DKL came in. It’s a combination between freedom and structure — for those (like me) who are always too slippery to stay in bounds.
