The amount of creativity, innovation, and pure perseverance that I displayed just to get drugs — not to mention hide my addiction from so many — it still astounds me. No, drug addicts are smart — too smart; strong — too strong. That’s the tragic irony of it, though. We’re so smart that we outsmart ourselves, so strong, we overpower ourselves.
