That’s a good question, Chris. At the end of the day, I am hard-pressed to completely dismiss any genre of writing or art. However, with listicles, one is fighting an uphill battle. I think that the type of people who are really looking for some wisdom — as opposed to those merely looking for something they can retweet and reuse to sell their own stuff— tend to dismiss listicles.

But, that may be cyclical. Perhaps the listicle can make a comeback, and can be a genre that promises good reading, as opposed to the lazy person’s content-generator.
