When it comes down to it, structure has a peak ROI — after which any further scheduling will actually yield not just diminishing returns, but negative ones, as well.
I constantly go back to the idea of mental space as a theme in my writing. Mental space is a thing. It’s hard to really quantify, but it is there, and at work in our mental lives. We need to clear and maintain mental space in order to be able to come up with creative insights and to explore possibilities. That process is not and will never be efficient. And efforts to make it so will only squash its potential.
