John, I think you engaged in either a shallow viewing or simply a shallow review of Chappelle's special--or both.
Your description of how and why he tells the Dorman story seems to have been written in bad faith. It's a pivotal moment in the special (whether you agree with his conclusions from it or not). Chappelle gets visibly emotional during the telling of it.
Yet you glaze over that almost entirely. I almost think you create a straw man there. Then take that down. That seems too hasty for a piece of writing meant to do anything other than preaching to the already converted.
